Whitney Mumm Blog 6

I chose the Statue of Liberty because it represents an important part of my culture. The Statue of Liberty is a national symbol of freedom. For me, this monument stands for my freedom.  I can become whatever I want to be and live however I want to live. The State of Liberty represents my right to be my own person and live somewhere where everybody has the same opportunities. I am so grateful for the opportunities I have in the United States. I get to get a good education, have the right to speak my mind, and get to meet people of different backgrounds. People from all over the world saw this statue as they arrived on a boat knowing that they were on their way to a better life. To many people it was a sign of hope.  A long time ago my family also made the trip to the United States from Germany. I am so grateful that they had that opportunity.

The picture below is of me standing in front of the Statue of Liberty.
