This week I presented my power-point, it seemed one of the Russian student was very interested in having a pet, which sparked an interesting thought.  I was just wondering if other countries are as pet or dog crazy as the U.S.?  It was too bad we didn't have the whole class to talk to them.  I though another interesting topic was the role of women in the work-place.  It seemed many of them were surprised to hear about how the United States has progressed in that area and in some ways remained stagnant i.e women's salaries compared to mens.  I look forward to continuing that discussion, it really is an intriguing subject and it brings us to the question of gender roles and how they apply in our society and Russian society.  This video below is an example of how society has an impact on children's perception of gender roles.  It's an interesting video.
