Hannah Coatney Blog Post 2

As many people have mentioned, we discussed in class the situation where a lady of the Jewish faith was chastised for imposing her beliefs on the other people in the office. I feel that her displays of faith are exactly the same as people who wear cross necklaces, or have t-shirts with biblical quotes on the back. To me, this brings up the continuing idea of in groups and out groups, and more importantly how this idea still rings true in Antisemitism. If a Christian were to display the same things as this lady did, there’s a pretty good chance that no one in that office would have complained, since so many more people in the United States are Christians. A good example of this can be seen from the Oscars last weekend(link below), where Ted(the animated bear from the movie Ted, voiced by Oscar host Seth MacFarlane), made a crude jab at Jews in Hollywood. As the article mentions, MacFarlane's jokes furthered negative stereotypes of those of the Jewish, and thereby supports the idea of in groups and out groups.
