Today, Monday, February 18, 2013 we had our first video link
with Russia. I had never been in a “Global Classroom” before so I did not know
what to expect. The technology worked well. The professor started out by
introducing himself and talking about a meteorite. I felt like an idiot at
first because I was unaware that a meteorite had hit Russia. Next, the students
introduced themselves. I was very impressed with how well they all spoke English.
I can’t even attempt to speak any other language. Our class went over what we
wanted to get out of the video links, and it seems both us and the Russians are
interested in learning similar things. After the introductions we learned more
about the meteorite. I found it interesting that in the video the radio in the
car was playing a song that is on the hits station in America. I am looking
forward to making a Facebook group and getting to see everyone’s PowerPoint
presentations.
Cheers,
Kyle Reikowsky
